Selecting the right type of Internet for your particular needs is a process. First, you need to know what your options are and you need to take into consideration the actual availability in your area, your budget, and your specific wants. Internet connections are now numerous. You can often select from several options that provide you with improved ability to communicate on the web.

Types to Consider

If you want the option that costs the least, perhaps your best bet is to use dial-up. This type of connection requires you to call into the phone system using your computer’s modem. You will need to have an ISP to use this and you will need to have a phone line. This process is slow and it can provide you with an interrupted service from time to time.

If you want a faster option, consider cable Internet service. Another option for fast speed is to use DSL. This method uses phone lines, but in a different method than dial-up. You no longer need to dial into the ISP to use this service. That speeds things up and keeps costs down. You can also get wireless internet, such as Clear Internet, for speed and accessibility on the go.

For those who want the very fastest option, consider Internet2. This is the fastest in terms of connectivity but will be more expensive. This method is not common outside of the area of research and education. Fiber optic cable, on the other hand, is more readily available. This option does offer a faster rate of communication and connectivity compared to DSL and cable options, but it can be more expensive.

The decision of which of these Internet providers is right for you is up to you to make. A variety of factors play a role in that decision, including what is available to you from providers in your area and your budget.
